Chicken nuggets, pastries, soups, and cakes – what do all of these foods have in common?
They all contain flour as main ingredients. Since flour is so common ingredient, a lot of people don’t think twice when they decide to purchase it or purchase food that contains flour. However, one of the most toxic “foods” that you can give to your body is regular processed white flour.
There is almost zero nutritional content in it, even if the manufacturers added many “fortifications” to it. The next time when you go to the store and want to buy some white flour be sure to remember the following five facts:
- Severe Lack Of Nutritional Value
The texture and color of white flour is like that because it’s processed and refined. However, ultra-processing method gets rid of all flour’s nutritional value. Beyond the ability to make bread rise and thicken your soups, it will not give anything beneficial to your body. This is the main reason why the FDA permitted manufacturers to fortify their product with nutrients that appeal to the public.
- Zero Fiber Content
It is known that grains are very good source of fiber content, but this is not the same when flour is in question. After processing, the flour is left with zero fiber content. According to a study made in 2013, diet with processed white flour increases the risk of metabolic and cardiac diseases, which can result with death.
- Potassium Bromate
This is a substance that makes the bread fluffy. However, high amounts of it can significantly damage your kidneys. High amounts of potassium bromate can increase the risk for gastrointestinal diseases.
It is used to improve the industrial processing of bakery. Even if it’s considered as safe ingredient, the source of it can be controversial. L-cysteine is made from human hair, cow horns, chicken and duck feathers, and petroleum byproducts. A lot of this ingredient comes from China, where the regulation is poor and sources are not always regulated.
