Joints are crucial for all our movements, so any damage leads to severe pain, moving difficulties, and conditions like gout, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains, osteoarthritis, gout, bursitis, strains, and other injuries.

One recent national survey showed that a third of adults complained about experiencing joint pain in the last month.

The most commonly affected areas include the knees, shoulders, and hips, but joint pain might also be experienced in the hands, feet, ankles, and hands.

Acute pain lasts for a few weeks, but chronic joint pain might not disappear for over several months. Moreover, the intensity can vary from mild to debilitating.

Curcumin, its active ingredient, has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which soothe joint pain.

A 2009 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that curcumin and ibuprofen offer the same effects in the case of knee osteoarthritis. Therefore, just add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of lukewarm water with a bit of honey and drink it daily.

You can also soak a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water overnight, and then eat them in the morning.

The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger alleviate joint and muscle pain, and are especially helpful in the case of knee pain in osteoarthritis patients. Add dried ginger powder or fresh ginger in your diet or start drinking ginger tea.

Capsaicin, the natural analgesic properties of cayenne pepper, reduces mild to moderate joint pain, as found by a study published in the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand.

The gel with 0.0125 % capsaicin effectively lowered pain in women with knee osteoarthritis. You should add 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper powder to half a cup of warm coconut oil, and massage the painful area. Leave it to act for 20 minutes, and wash it off.
