You probably know what Listerine is – the popular mouthwash brand is used by millions of people around the world, but we bet you didn’t know it can do a lot more than only improve your oral health.
Listerine was invented in 1879, but it was introduced as a disinfectant, not a mouthwash. It wasn’t used as a mouthwash until 1970, and since then, people have discovered fun new ways of using it. Here are some unorthodox ways in which you can use the mouthwash product:
TREATS AND PREVENTS DANDRUFF
Listerine is a great anti-dandruff solution – just pour a bit on your scalp and rub it in gently, then rinse it with warm water. Repeat the process until the dandruff disappears.
RELIEVES INSECT BITES
Did you know that Listerine can relieve insect bites? Just put a bit on a cotton ball and dab it on the affected area to disinfect it and reduce the swelling and irritation.
TREATS PIMPLES AND DARK SPOTS ON THE SKIN
Listerine can clean your skin of acne and pimples and reduce the appearance of dark spots and stains.
ELIMINATES FUNGAL INFECTIONS
Listerine is a great way of eliminating fungal nail infections. If you’re unfortunately suffering from this type of infection, soak your fingernails in a bowl of Listerine for 30 minutes every day and you will resolve the problem soon.
DISINFECTS YOUR TOOTHBRUSH
To fully disinfect your toothbrush, leave it in a glass of Listerine overnight.
REDUCES BODY ODOR
If you’re out and forgot your deodorant, Listerine can save your day. Just put some on a cotton ball and rub it on your armpits to eliminate the bacteria responsible for the odor.
CLEAN THE COMPUTER SCREEN
Spray a bit of Listerine on your computer screen to remove the layers of fat and clean it nicely.
PREVENTS ODOR FROM THE TRASH
To keep your home smelling clean and eliminate the odor coming from the trash bin, put a few Listerine-soaked paper towels in.
