Our joints are the ones that form a connection between our bones. They provide support and enable us to have a proper movement. Any damage that could happen because of an injury or some disease can cause great pain and impede our movement. Arthritis, bursitis, and muscle pain are closely related to joint pain. That pain can be classified as milder, causing soreness only after specific activities, or severe, making even limited movement difficult and painful.

Even though there are medicines, treatments and creams that could help this condition, nature also has its way in helping. So, here, we’re going to present you a very effective homemade topical treatment for arthritis with cayenne pepper, which acts as a natural analgesic or a pain reliever because of its active compound called capsaicin.

You need:

  • 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
  • ¼ of a cup of warm olive oil


Add the 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper into the ¼ cup of warm olive oil. Stir well and then apply the mixture onto your painful joints. Leave it on for 15 minutes. After this period of time has passed, rinse the areas with warm water. You will feel good results even after the first application, but repeat the procedure 2 to 3 times a day in order to get optimal results. You can perform the treatment until the pain is gone.

Capsaicin, the main ingredient in cayenne pepper, depletes a neurotransmitter called substance P, which is responsible for sending pain signals to the brain. When this substance is blocked, there is no memo that something is hurting, and there is no pain.

Important to know

A burning sensation after you’ve applied the treatment is a normal occurrence. But, if you have a sensitive skin, use the remedy cautiously.  Another important thing is not to forget to wear gloves when you handle cayenne pepper and avoid eye contact! You mustn’t apply it to open skin and wounds!
