Gray hair is a problem for millions of people around the world. It comes with age and it seems there’s nothing you can do to avoid it. However, many people find gray hairs on their head in their 20s or 30s, which is certainly unpleasant. The graying process isn’t a medical problem by itself except in rare cases.
Besides the growing popular belief, stress isn’t the main factor for gray hair. Science is still looking for the culprit, but has targeted our genes as a possible factor. Vitamin B12 deficiency or thyroid problems are also believed to play a role.
The hair has 2 pigments – light (phaeomelanin) and dark (melanin). They blend together to create different hair colors. Over age, the melanin production reduces which causes the hair to turn gray, a problem no one wants to have.
Although people mostly rely on hair dyes to cover their gray hairs, there is a simpler method which is natural and may provide better results.
The remedy is made from potato peels – just peel some potatoes and boil the peels in water for half an hour, then use it on your hair. Repeat the process several times a week for best results.
