It is a type of fish cultivated near the Mekong River in Vietnam which is known to be one of the most polluted rivers in the world. People there use sewage pools to cultivate this fish and those pools contain high levels of toxins and bacteria that end up in the meat. The meat has also been found to contain heavy metals, chlorate, isomers, hexachlorobenzene as well as other harmful compounds. The USA is one of the countries which have banned the import of the Basa fish because of its high levels of contaminants in the meat as well as because of the suspicion that it contains antibiotics.

These contaminants as well as the waste material present in this Basafish (Pangasius Fillets) are very unhealthy and your health can definitely be endangered. When the fish is in its natural environment, it grows 4 times faster, but the Basa fish sold in our markets is injected with antibiotics and hormones that we know are supposed to make the fish bigger and more attractive for the customers. The meat also contained numerous hormones that accelerate the growth and reproduction of the fish. After that, it is sold in partnership with big companies that have no regard for human health. The Basa fish is usually sold at a very low price and that’s what actually attracts more customers as well as the fact that many people aren’t even aware of the low quality of the meat.

This fish doesn’t even contain omega-3 oils or other essential nutrients found in other natural types of fish. The taste of the Basa fish is very good, but knowing these facts that it’s really low in healthy nutrients and only high in harmful matters is a reason enough for you to try and avoid it!
