Women are left confused because of the latest debates whether wearing bras prevents sagging, causes sagging, or causes breast cancer. Bras serve to support the breasts, especially the large ones. Women will suffer a lot of back pain and discomfort without the support bras provide.

Nevertheless, not all of the bras are beneficial. If you wear the ones from the latest styles, or those that make them look bigger or perkier, you put yourself at risk of serious health problems.

Wearing bra is bad for your health. Why?

A study showed that breast cancer can be caused by wearing a bra. This is based on how the body cleans itself f toxins. There was a research among women who did and did not wear bras as well as the corresponding rates of breast cancer. The anthropologists Singer and Grismaijer support the same idea. They are authors of the book called Dressed to Kill: The Link between Breast Cancer and Bras. It explains that the compromised lymphatic flow caused by brass which are ill-fitting that increases the risks of this type of cancer. There were more than 4,000 women included in the study.

These are the findings:
  • Women that have been rarely wearing bras had 1 out of 168 chance of developing breast cancer.
  • Women that have been wearing bras less than 12 hours daily had 1 out of 52 risk.
  • Women that have been wearing bras more than 12 hours per day, but not to bed, had 1 out of 7 risk.
  • Those who have been wearing bras for 24 hours had 3 out of 4 chance of getting breast cancer.

The anthropologists observed the past behavior of wearing bras of the subjects. This is highly significant since the disease takes a longer time for its development.

There are other scientists and health experts who support the same idea that a tight fitting bra can actually cut off the lymph drainage, and this can result in development of breast cancer. This is due to the lymph’s function for eliminating the toxins which enter the body daily is compromised. Aluminum from antiperspirants is one potentially dangerous source of toxins which builds up if the lymph drainage is impaired.

The importance of lymphatic circulation

If the person sits for a longer period of time on an airplane flight, the feet and ankles swell as the lymphatic circulation falls down to zero. Moreover, if one wears bra, it may contribute to the development of bra cancer and this results in cutting the lymphatic drainage off. In this way the toxic chemicals are trapped inside the breasts.

One French study concluded that it is not highly important for women to wear bras as they may lead to health problems. It showed that those women who did not wear it, gained more natural support since their muscle tissue strengthened over time, compared to those who wore them. Weakened muscles appeared in those who wore bras, and this is actually a risk factor which contributes to sagging. The main idea here was that breast cancer risks significantly increase in those women who wear bras for more than 12 hours per day.

Moreover, temperature can also be affected by wearing bras. The breasts have lower temperature naturally, and studies have shown that cancer depends on temperature. Thus, temperature can negatively impact the hormone function even though breast cancer is dependent on hormones.

Reduce the risks

The style of the bra, the tightness, and length of the time it is being worn contribute to the degree of blockage of lymphatic drainage. Thus, wear bras which are fitted properly, rather than the latest trends. Try go braless, but it may take some time to adjust. If you want to avoid the uneasiness of the nipples showing, wear a tank with a built-in bra or a bandeau under your clothes. You will feel tightness and support that the bra provides, but at the same time won’t wear one.
