What the color of your urine says about your health

One of the best ways to determine a health problem is through a urine test. In this article, we’re going to tell you what the color, smell and consistency of urine says about your health.

A Cleveland Clinic claims that healthy urine has a pale straw color. The darker the yellow, the more dehydrated you are. If your urine is the color of amber or honey, you must start drinking water now! Orange urine can either be a sign of dehydration, food coloring, or something more perilous, like for example a problem with the liver or bile ducts.

Even our diet can affect the color of our urine. If you’ve eaten beets, blackberries or rhubarb, your urine will be with a pink or reddish color, but in case you have not eaten these scarlet fruits and vegetables, you need to seek for immediate medical attention, because unfortunately, it may be a sign of serious diseases like: kidney disease, tumor, a prostate problem, or urinary tract infection.

Another food culprit can be asparagus. It can give your urine a green tint and a funky sulfuric stench. Nevertheless, a green color change can also be a sign of a urinary tract infection or kidney stones. Cloudy white pee is another sign of urinary tract infection. The best thing would be to visit your doctor in case of any color change.

The smell of pee is also very important. It’s as important as its color. Our urine should not have a strong smell. According to some experts, if your urine smells of ammonia, drink a big glass of water, because you are likely dehydrated. A strong smell can also be a sign of urinary tract infection, diabetes, bladder infection, or metabolic disease. If you think that your urine smells strong for a long time and it also changed color, then it’s time to visit your doctor.

The consistency of urine is another important factor. For example, if it appears thicker than normal, you may be suffering from an undiagnosed illness or infection. Cloudy urine signals kidney stones, and foamy urine is most likely caused by protein build-up or an issue with the kidneys.

These signs are extremely important. You must know them, so that you can be healthy!
