Lemons are one of the healthiest foods you can eat due to the incredible amount of essential nutrients they contain. They offer various health benefits and have been known to help the body fight infections. We usually consume the fruit raw or juiced and throw out the peel, but this is a big mistake as the peel is actually the healthiest part of lemons.
Lemon peel contains 5-10 times the amount of vitamins than the fruit. The popular citrus fruit and its peel are rich in vitamin A, B6, C and E, as well as a host of minerals including iron, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, calcium, folate, riboflavin and protein. Besides the mistake we’re making by throwing out the peel, we have also been eating lemons wrong the whole time – according to recent studies, the best way to benefit from the fruit is freezing it first.
Put a lemon in your freezer and leave it to freeze overnight, then cut off both parts in the morning and grate the whole fruit. Afterwards, you can sprinkle the lemon on your meals, pasta sauces, smoothies or homemade ice cream – whatever you choose, you will surely benefit from frozen lemons better than using them fresh.
